Questions people ask

What ID do I need?

Each signer needs a current government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID card or passport. If a signer has no ID, ask about credible witnesses.

Should I sign my document before you arrive?

No. Fill everything in, but wait to sign until our notary is there. You must sign in front of our notary. Blank spaces can be a problem, so complete the document first.

Can you help me fill out my document or tell me what it means?

No. Our notary doesn't personally prepare legal documents or give legal advice. Your attorney or the document's issuer does that. Bring your completed documents, and we'll notarize them. For estate planning documents, we can coordinate preparation through an independent Nevada-registered document preparation professional. See estate planning.

Does my document need witnesses?

Some do, like certain wills and healthcare documents. Check the document or ask whoever prepared it. If it needs witnesses, arrange them before the appointment and let us know, or ask us to help coordinate witnesses. Additional fees apply.

Who Can Serve as a Witness for My Documents?

Witnesses generally should be at least 18 years old, have valid government-issued photo identification, and be impartial individuals who are not parties to the document or beneficiaries of the transaction.

For documents signed in hospitals, nursing homes, or assisted-living facilities, staff members and medical professionals may be unable to serve as witnesses due to facility policies, potential conflicts of interest, or applicable legal restrictions.

Witness eligibility requirements vary depending on the document and applicable laws. Please confirm the requirements for your specific document with the attorney who prepared it or another qualified legal professional before your appointment.

Need Help Arranging Witnesses?

Red Carpet Mobile Notary & Apostille can help coordinate witnesses for your appointment. Additional fees apply.

How much do notary services cost?

Nevada law (NRS 240.100) sets the fee for each notarial act. For example, an acknowledgment is $15 for the first signature of each signer, and a jurat is $15 per signature. See the full list on fees.

Is there a travel fee?

Yes, for mobile visits. Mobile travel fees start at $30 for appointments between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and $60 for appointments between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Travel fees may vary depending on distance and travel time. All applicable fees are confirmed and agreed upon before your appointment. See fees.

Do you come to hospitals and nursing homes?

Yes. The signer needs ID and must be alert and willing to sign. Call the facility about visiting rules first. See hospital and nursing home visits.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. Closed Sunday. Outside these hours? Call or text and ask.

Can you come today?

It depends on our schedule and your location. Call or text with what you need and we'll tell you honestly.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. We speak English and Spanish. Preguntas frecuentes en español.

Do you do apostilles?

Yes. Apostilles start at $290 for the first document, with state fees included. The final price depends on where the document was issued and where it's going. Have multiple documents requiring apostilles? Ask about our customized multi-document service pricing. See apostilles.

Do you offer remote online notarization?

Not yet. We're commissioned for RON in Nevada and finishing training on a RON platform. Call to ask. Meanwhile, we come to you. See remote online notarization.

Can you certify a copy of my birth certificate?

No. Nevada notaries can't certify copies of birth, death or marriage certificates or divorce decrees. Order certified copies from the office that issued them.

What areas do your mobile notary services cover?

Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Strip, Downtown Las Vegas, Enterprise, Spring Valley, Sunrise Manor, the Arts District, Summerlin, Sun City, Centennial Hills, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Green Valley North, Whitney, Anthem, Nellis Air Force Base, Boulder City, Lake Las Vegas and Lone Mountain. See service areas.

What types of documents can you process for apostille?

We can process birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, divorce decrees, powers of attorney, corporate documents, and more.

How do you handle apostille services for clients in different states?

We send the documents to our trusted apostille partners in each state and coordinate the process, including expedited handling where it is available.

Do processing times differ for nationwide apostille services?

Yes. Processing times depend on the issuing state, the document type and government processing requirements. Nevada offers expedited options, and we coordinate expedited handling for other states where it is available. Contact us to talk through your deadline.

What federal documents do you commonly handle for apostille?

We commonly handle FBI background checks, Certificate of Naturalization, and DD-214 for federal apostille as well as many others.

Is there an expedited service available for federal apostille requests?

Yes. Standard federal apostilles can take 8 to 14 weeks or longer, depending on the U.S. Department of State, so we specialize in fast, knowledgeable coordination of expedited federal apostilles. We don't promise a set turnaround time for every document, because it depends on the document type and government processing requirements.

What are the typical processing times for apostilles?

Processing times vary by issuing state, document type, where the document originated and the country it's going to. We specialize in fast, knowledgeable and efficient apostille service, including expedited state and federal apostilles, without promising a specific turnaround time for every document. Tell us your deadline and we'll tell you what is realistic.
